Sam Allardyce has been appointed as the new manager of Leeds United and is set to earn $700,000 for the final four games of the season. If he manages to keep the team in the Premier League, he will receive a bonus of over $3.5 million. Leeds are currently just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference, and the pressure is on to avoid being relegated given the club's deal with the owners of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers to buy the club. Allardyce's sidekick, Sammy Lee, will be absent due to jury duty.

Allardyce's appointment comes after Javi Gracia, who had only been in charge for two and a half months, departed from Leeds. Gracia oversaw only three wins in his first six matches in the Premier League, and the team has only taken one point from their last five matches, conceding 18 goals in the process.

Leeds have four games remaining in the season, and Allardyce will be hoping to have a significant impact to avoid being relegated. He faces a tough challenge with a trip to the Etihad followed by games against Newcastle, West Ham, and Tottenham.

The departure of Javi Gracia was not a surprise due to ongoing tensions between the Spaniard and boardroom figures, as well as disagreements over recruitment and transfers. Victor Orta, the former director of football at Leeds, was sacked amid these ongoing tensions. Orta's departure was confirmed in a statement by Chairman Andrea Radrizzani, who said that he was saddened by the chapter's closure.
